Summer Research Festival - Futures: Time, Uncertainty, and the Imagination

14 June 2021, 9.00 AM - 16 June 2021, 6.10 PM

online

Join the South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership’s first-ever Summer Research Festival, organised and run by DTP students.

This year's theme is ‘Futures'. Hear from PhD students across the UK, alongside invited keynote speakers, discussing varied topics such as climate change and sustainability, looking backwards in order to move forwards, positive change in social mobility and inclusivity, and the benefits of animal intelligence as we seek to develop new technology. The festival will run as an online event over three days, with workshops, presentations and more.

This interdisciplinary online festival explores the different ways the future is, and has been, conceived and imagined. The festival will include workshops, presentations, roundtable discussions and conference papers, all responding to the idea of ‘futures’. How have people in the past imagined or divined the future? What changes can we make to ensure a sustainable future? Can looking back help us to move forward? And how can animal intelligence help us to develop future technology? These questions and more will form the framework of this research festival.
