Project Composers in Residence

The Old Hispanic Office project had four composers in residence.

John Pickard composed a piece for the project, Daughters of Zion. This has been performed by Kokoro Ensemble and by the Bristol Ensemble, each time with Angharad Lyddon as the soloist. This piece was the result of a collaboration with Gavin d'Costa, and was inspired by the research of Kati Ihnat on Marian devotion in medieval Iberia.

Michael Ellison composed a piece, Virgo Israel Ornare for Christ Church Cathedral Choir, exploring text associated with the Marian office on 18 December in the Old Hispanic rite.

Neal Farwell's From the Rising of the Sun was performed by Cambridge Chorale in October 2017.

Litha Efthymiou's PhD was sponsored by the project, and many of her pieces betwen 2013-17 were inspired in different ways by the project's research. Some of her music may be heard on Litha Efthymiou soundcloud
