Important Notice: As of 2018/19, the Institute will be considering funding applications only twice a year. This constitutes a change from previous years, so please take the time to read through the following information carefully.
Each year, the Institute of Greece, Rome, and the Classical Tradition awards funding for a wide variety of projects generated wholly or in part by members of the University of Bristol, and tied to its core interests; this is out of respect to our donors who provide financial support. Applications are considered by the Committee two times a year, following a call for funding sent to staff in the Faculty of Arts. The first call goes out at the start of the academic year and the second around Christmas. Awards range from funding for small workshops and reading groups to large, international conferences. Awards have also been made to invite visiting speakers and to co-sponsor events outside Bristol that encourage Bristol participation, or lead to follow-up events in Bristol. Applicants may request examples of previous, successful bids. Successful applicants are required to write a report for the Institute’s Annual Report, which should include photos from the event.
