Professor Ian Morris (Stanford): The Athenian Empire

Professor Ian Morris is Jean and Rebecca Willis Professor of Classics and Professor of History at Stanford University, having previously taught at the University of Chicago. He is the author of Burial and Ancient Society (1987), Death-Ritual and Social Structure in Classical Antiquity (1992) and Archaeology as Cultural History: Words and Things in Iron Age Greece (2000), the editor of Classical Greece: Ancient Histories and Modern Archaeologies (1994) and co-editor of A New Companion to Homer (1997), Democracy 2500? Questions and Challenges (1997), The Ancient Economy: evidence and models (2005) and The Cambridge Economic History of Greco-Roman Antiquity (2007).
