Data‑Informed Insights for Business Management Decisions
We invite you and your organisation to collaborate with our undergraduate students enrolled in our Quantitative Analysis in Management unit. During the unit, students learn basic analytical skills and explore interpreting these analyses in the context of business and management. Through this project, students will put this theory into practice and respond to a real-world business and management question.
Some example questions our students can respond to:
- What factors are contributing most to our rising costs?
- What drives higher fundraising totals?
- How can we improve operational performance?
- How will your question be explored?
As part of the project, our students will:
- Explore different factors that might be influencing your business management question
- Determine which variables significantly influence business outcomes
- Identify which factors deserve management attention
- Translate analytical results into managerial insights and recommendations
What are the benefits?
- Fresh perspectives on business management decisions
- Structured analysis, managerial insights and recommendations
- No cost and a manageable time commitment
- Providing students with an invaluable opportunity to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios
Here is a summary of how these partnerships work:
- On the course students are trained in a range of data analytic techniques, including regression analysis.
- We will invite you to fill out this form with details of your organisation, the types of business management challenges you are facing, and your proposed question.
- We will be in touch to learn more about your desired objectives, and discuss the relevant data required. Proposals will be reviewed for suitability against students’ analytical methodologies to ensure we can create a mutually beneficial project. Because we want each project to deliver real value for organisations, we cannot guarantee all proposals will be taken forward. We will communicate the outcome with you either way.
- The partner organisation will be required to sign a Project Engagement Agreement document outlining project expectations, and to provide the relevant data.
- At the beginning of Autumn term, we will invite you to come into the University on one day to meet our students, present your context, business management related question and desired objectives. During this session, we will aim to establish an environment where we can effectively co-design the project with your organisation and the students to ensure the project is of benefit to you and to their learning.
- Students will work in groups of 5 to 6, over the course of 6 weeks, to respond to your question.
- At the end of the project, you will receive students’ reports in a format of most benefit, and a digital presentation of their insights and recommendations.
When does this take place?
- Project start: Week beginning 9th November 2026
- Project length: 4 weeks
- Final outputs shared: Week beginning 11th December 2026
