Arts Faculty Careers Week: New Events 26 and 27 April 2018

Explore tomorrow! Alumni talks and careers sessions tailored for Arts, Humanities and Modern Languages students, showcasing the diverse range of careers and opportunities available to Arts students upon graduation. Information on all the sessions taking place, as well as speakers can be found below.

As you know, several of the Arts Careers Week sessions had to be cancelled due to bad weather back in early March. However, we've done our best to ensure that some of these still go ahead, and so please see below for your chance to book on to one of the sessions we currently have running next week:

Find out what a career in academia is really like. A panel of academics will discuss their career so far and answer questions from the audience.

Find out what a career in teaching is really like. A panel of alumni who have gone into teaching through a range of different routes will be talking about their career and answering your questions.

Quickfix: Options with a PhD

A 30 minute talk to introduce you to the many career options with a PhD and how to start researching your career.

This talk will be delivered by our Postgraduate Faculty Employability Consultant, Dr Bryony Enright. She will draw on data and case studies from a range of PhD graduates that have moved into careers outside of academia. The talk will be useful for all PGRs, especially those exploring options, keen to develop a knowledge of opportunities beyond academia, those unsure about their future career or career choices and those seeking inspiration.

You will learn about the spectrum of different opportunities and broaden your horizons from jobs that draw on your disciplinary and subject knowledge to those that take a new direction completely. The session will include information on how and where to look for opportunities as well as advice about how to go about exploring your options.

Bryony will be available for you to talk to and ask questions after the talk.

 

Careers beyond Academia with a PhD

A discussion panel looking at the opportunities outside of academia available to Postgraduate Researchers after finishing their PhD.
