Abstract:
The 2025 impact project ‘Sharing Best Practices’ facilitated new works involving nine composers from UoB, the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with new pieces performed and workshopped in Taipei, Beijing, and Xi’an. Participating East Asian composers’ pieces were recently premiered at Arnolfini in Bristol. This seminar focuses on new pieces written for the Chinese traditional instruments suona 唢呐, guqin 古琴, and for the ensembles Con Tempo Beijing and Fengming•Yunshang (古筝 ensemble), as well as results from the collaborations.
