ABSTRACT
Jingchu culture boasts a long history and rich connotations, serving as an important component of Chinese culture. As early as the pre-Qin period, the State of Chu had already become a powerful southern kingdom, creating a splendid civilization. Jingchu culture embodies both romance and resilience, as evidenced by unearthed artifacts. For instance, exquisite lacquerware with dazzling colours and peculiar shapes showcases the romantic imagination of Chu homo sapiens, while sturdy bronze vessels reflect their resilience and wisdom. This lecture explores Jingchu music, from the Chime Bells of the Marquis de Zheng, with their 2400 year history, to guqin zither, to modern Jiangchu opera.
