Medieval Chant for Saint Aemilian
Victoria Rooms Building, Recital Room
Schola cantorum will perform Gregorian chant that was compiled in honour of Saint Aemilian, a hermit saint who became patron saint of Castile in the middle ages. The choir's musical director, Emma Hornby, has been studying Aemilian alongside art historians, historians, liturgists and musicologists, and the concert will be illustrated with information about medieval veneration of this saint, especially at San Millán de la Cogolla, the monastery he founded in the sixth century.
All our lunchtime concerts have a £5 admission charge (UoB students and staff can attend free of charge, with presentation of valid UCard). The admission charge can be paid in advance via the University online shop page or in person on the day of the concert, via card payment.
