“Voices and noises in Stanley Kubrick’s filmmaking,” by Dr. Manca Perko

Kubrick is known for his authority and excessive control over the filmmaking process. The famous director’s reclusive nature and rare communication with the media only contributed to the mythology that has developed around him. But a mythology is a set of stories, or constructed narratives that are based on a false belief and biased representations. The working process in Kubrick’s crews is, in fact, shown to exhibit strong collaborative features and to encourage individual creative input. The talk will reveal some of the ways in which Kubrick collaborated and bring some amusing stories to the surface, challenging the authorial approach in studying filmmaking practice.
