Representing Resistance: Anthropological Explorations in One Health AMR

This seminar presents findings and reflections from cross-disciplinary research investigating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Asian settings. I will start with some scene-setting around the rise both of AMR and of international concerns about this global health problem over the past decade, before briefly introducing my own involvement in this field. The presentation will highlight discrepancies between interventions to tackle AMR that are foregrounded in global health policy and local realities, drawing on examples from work in China, India and Thailand to ask how anthropological knowledge might play a role in addressing complex global challenges.
