Estate and Will Planning Webinar: Top 20 FAQs

Join us for a digital event on estate planning, as part of our ongoing series covering wills and lifetime planning.

Statistics suggest that 60% of adults in the UK do not have a will. This session will provide an opportunity to hear directly from practising solicitors about the types of questions commonly raised by clients, and the key considerations involved in organising personal legal affairs.

There will be an opportunity to submit questions during the session, and attendees are encouraged to prepare these in advance.

Speakers

This event will be delivered in collaboration with Leila Goodarzi and Louise Combstock, Partners at Veale Wasborough Vizards solicitors (Bristol). Leila and Louise specialise in lifetime and estate planning. Leila has also previously delivered webinars for the University.

In this session, they will draw on frequently asked client questions and provide guidance on the answers. Examples of topics covered include:

  • Whether pension nomination of beneficiary forms should be updated ahead of April 2027
  • Whether lifetime gifts to charity can reduce an Inheritance Tax liability
  • The treatment of gifts made in the seven years prior to death for Inheritance Tax purposes
  • Whether separate wills are required for overseas assets
