About the speaker
Stephen Reicher is presently Professor of Psychology at the University of St. Andrews, Convenor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences for the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the British Academy.
Stephen did his BSc and PhD at Bristol, where a combination of student occupations, mass demonstrations and the St. Paul’s riot sparked his lifelong interest in crowd behaviour (including riots, panics, mass pilgrimages, commemorations and coronations). Latterly, this led him to become an advisor to the UK and Scottish Governments on mass behaviour during Covid.
In his talk, Stephen will describe how Bristol, riots and Covid are connected and how his days in Berkeley Square, Bristol still guide him today.
