Virtual Exhibitions

It is now possible to experience previous Theatre Collections exhibitions and the new virtual University of Bristol Museum, Uncertain Space, in interactive and immersive 3D virtual reality.

How to access:

A smart phone, web browser or Virtual Reality headset will all enable a form of access to our virtual exhibitions and the virtual museum, Uncertain Space.

A smart phone or web browser will allow you to move about within the virtual exhibition spaces, getting a close look at objects on display and interact with digital media such as audio recordings. A Virtual Reality headset will take your experience to the next level, allowing for a completely immersive 3D experience of our exhibitions.

From home:

If you own a smartphone, computer, or Virtual Reality headset it is possible to experience the exhibitions from your own home.

From our Reading Rooms:

The Theatre Collection holds several Virtual Reality headsets which are available for use by anyone in our Reading Rooms.

If you would like to visit the Theatre Collection to use the Virtual Reality headsets, please email theatre-collection@bristol.ac.uk or call us on 0117 3315045. We can help you arrange a visit, confirm dates and times, and identify any access needs you may have. It is important to let us know in advance that you are visiting to make sure we have headsets and space available, as well as a member of staff to get you set up.

We recommend allowing an hour to visit the virtual exhibitions.

Please note that you will be seated whilse using the Virtual Reality headset and will need to use your hands to interact with the displays. Virtual Reality is not recommended for those with epilepsy.
