Duty Management

Events that fall outside the Hawthorns' standard operational hours will require a member of Hawthorns' staff to supervise the building in order to ensure our duty of care obligations are met. In general terms, for non-commercial events for under 50 people, this obligation would be met by the currently employed Hawthorns' Night Porter or Residential Accommodation Officer (Monday to Friday).

However, for events after 8pm with 50 or more attendees, a designated Duty Manager would be required and the following charges would apply:

Monday - Friday

Events finishing by 8pm:

No charge

Events finishing after 8pm

£15 per hour

Saturday or Sunday

£25 per hour

All above charges are based on a minimum of 4 hours and are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.

It is essential for a Duty Manager to be present for all external and internal events where the public (non-University staff or students) will be attending. The Duty manager undertakes responsibility for the 'Duty of Care' for all users of the building. This responsibility will be undertaken by designated Hawthorns staff members.
