Dr Pauline Heslop - Programme Lead

Pauline is a Professor of Intellectual Disabilities Research. She is a qualified nurse by background. Since working at the Norah Fry Centre for Disability Studies, Pauline has completed research into a range of health in people and care-related issues. She led the Confidential Inquiry into premature deaths of people with learning disibilities (CIPOLD). From 2010-2013 which identified potentially modifiable factors associated with premature deaths in people with learning disabilities. She is now Programme Lead for the Learning Disabilities Mortality Review (LeDeR) Programme.

Andy Wistow - Programme Manager

Andy has more than 25 years’ experience in managing programmes and projects in the charity, public and private sectors. His role is to plan work and resources, identify and solve risks and issues and to act as the point of contact for key stakeholders.

 Chris Allen - Communications Coordinator

Chris has more than 20 years' experience of working in media, communications and public relations. He is the lynchpin for liaison between the LeDeR programme, NHS England and the public, for publicity about the programme itself, and for sharing programme outputs. Chris has a key role in planning and delivering communications to and with key groups, such as people with learning disabilities and their families, care providers and professionals.

Melanie Avis - Senior Programme Administrator

Melanie provides dedicated administrative support to the Programme and has responsibility for managing a small team of office-based administrators. Melanie ensures effective use of IT and communication systems in the project, including the maintenance of project webpages, social media and other web-based communication.

Rachel Calkin – Data Analyst

Rachel will be supporting the data analysis requirements for the Programme, working closely with the Programme Manager and the Programme statistician. Rachel will be analysing quantitative and qualitative data, identifying trends and patterns in the data and writing up the findings of the analyses for a variety of audiences.

Avon Huxor - Research Associate

Avon is a data scientist and responsible for creating and adapting coding tools for use in data analysis and coding. Data will be drawn from electronic or paper-based reports about deaths of people with learning disabilities.

Lucy Brockbank - Programme Officer

Lucy comes from a background in social care and is qualified as a Social Worker. She is coordinating the Priority Themed Reviews for the programme and will be assisting with delivery of training for this role. Additionally, Lucy will be over-seeing the employment of a person with learning disabilities to work with the team and will be co-producing accessible information when they are in post.

Lindsey Allen - Training and Quality Assessment Coordinator

Lindsey works as part of the training team at the LeDeR programme. The team delivers a range of training and support to the different sub-regions across NHS England in order to embed the national Learning Disability Mortality Review Programme. Lindsey trains local reviewers of deaths of people with learning disabilities, and ensures the quality and consistency of reviews throughout England.

Dave Hanford - Information Officer (Easy Read)

Dave is an Information Officer for the LeDeR Programme. He works with Lucy to produce easy read information. He helps make it easy for people with a learning disability and their family and friends get the help they need to get the best health care. He is part of a drama group called the Misfits Theatre Company and he also works in the office in the Misfits. He has got good easy reading skills gained from producing a newsletter. He is also good at working as part of a team as well as on his own.

Dave works one day per week, on Tuesdays.

Anni Sutt - Office Administrator  

Anni provides administrative support for the Programme, working closely with the Senior Programme Administrator, Programme Administrators and the Programme team. Anni supports the training team preparing training packs and sending out joining instructions and training certificates. She also makes travel and hotel arrangements for the LeDeR team and processes staff expenses. Anni also works on our contacts and other databases to ensure information is correct.

Alison Burnett - Office Administrator (TSS)

Alison provides administrative support for the Programme, working closely with the Senior Programme Administrator, Programme Administrators and the Programme team. Alison supports with the web based review system queries and local area contact changes as well as processing all new reviews.
