The conference will take place in Link Room 2, which is accessible via 9 Woodland Road (postcode BS8 1TB).

A map of the University Precinct is available as well as directions to Senate House (which is situated at the top  of Woodland Road, just a few doors up from the conference venue).

Call for Papers and Presentations

Papers and less formal presentations are invited for this interdisciplinary day conference and workshop. These may be on any aspect of the relations between romanticism and place but might focus on the following:

Landscapes – picturesque, sublime, romantic

Mapping: the Place and the Imaginary

Selves and Locations

Location and locution: place and voice

Wilderness

Home, Place and (Domi)Nation

The Romantic Metropolis

Art-Objects as (and in) Places

The workshop is intended to offer a forum in which work-in-progress as well as finished research can be presented and discussed. Varied modes of presentation are welcomed and opportunity for discussion will be scheduled into the day.

Confirmed participants include Sally Bushell, David Cooper, Rachel Hewitt, Robert Mayhew and Tim Saunders.
