“Most of us spend more time planning our annual holiday than our career.”
Innes Henry.
You live a life under pressure. You have to juggle priorities and manage your time, now and again you promise yourself time out to review where you’re going, but often it takes the end of the funding or the end of the contract to make us plan.
If you’re going to make the next research position really count by ensuring it’s with the leaders in your field, in a progressive department, in an area that secures funding, that will drive your career on: you need to plan in advance. If you’re wondering if academia is really for you, you need to plan a change of career at least a year ahead of the end of your contract.
This section shows you how to be strategic about your career. You will also find more information under Jobs and Training.
