Laos, located in Southeast Asia, is a predominately TheravÄda Buddhist nation. As part of the 'Bristol Buddhist Death Rituals Project' there was a significant amount of fieldwork that was undertaken in Laos in 2007. Many of the images are taken during the two festivals for the dead that take place in the 9th and 10th lunar months. Boun Khau Padap Din takes place in the 9th lunar month and Boun Khau Salak takes place at the beginning of the the 10th month.
