On Wednesday 12th April 2017, the Deputy Vice Chancellor and representatives from Unite and Unison unions signed the joint Union Learning Agreement.

The agreement will encourage and enable employees in the University of Bristol to participate in lifelong learning, with the unions providing free training opportunities to union members (or subsidised for non-union members). Employees will be able to carry out all job specific learning in work time. The University pledges to match the time off that an employee spends on training that indirectly contributes to the individual’s job or the organisation.
