John Lyon

John Lyon was educated at the Universities of St Andrews and Cambridge. He has taught at the University of Cambridge and the University of Bristol. He is a founding Fellow of the English Association and was Gillespie Professor, College of Wooster, Ohio. He publishes on literature from the sixteenth century to the present day. An enduring interest is in literary influence, particularly Shakespearean. He has edited many nineteenth and twentieth century novels (including five Penguin editions). In addition to exploring the Penguin Archive, he is currently working on Ben Jonson, Robert Louis Stevenson and Geoffrey Hill.
