Lecture Room 8, Arts Complex, 3-5 Woodland Road

UoB Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor Dr Jan Shaw is Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Sydney. She is an expert on writing about women in the literature of medieval Britain. Following a career in management, she now works on narrative and gender in leadership studies, making connections between recent leadership theory and the humanities. She is the co-editor of Storytelling: Critical and Creative Approaches (2013) and the author of Space, Gender and Memory in Middle English Romance (2016). In this lecture, Dr Shaw explores gendered identities in fifteenth-century romance and how these open up conversations about models of leadership and female agency.

The lecture is part of the CMS Research Seminar Series 2017-18.

All welcome, and the lecture will be followed by a drinks reception.
