Methods for Cross-cultural Research

6 February 2018, 1.00 PM - 6 February 2018, 2.00 PM

IAS Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor Hong-Jae Park

Room 4/5, 10 Woodland Road

Dr Hong-Jae Park is a Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology at the University of Western Sydney, Australia.

In his cross-cultural research Dr Park has used mixed methods that have enabled him to explore sensitive subjects (the experiences of older people ‘left behind’ as involuntary migrants) to produce high-quality findings. This seminar will provide an opportunity for postgraduate students to hear Dr Park’s account of his experiences as an empirical researcher who has successfully managed the challenges entailed in cross-cultural, international research, using life-history interviews with ‘involuntary retirement migrants’.

This seminar is open to PGR and PGT students in the School for Policy Studies.
