Information about our Masters courses

Studying for a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology at Bristol will give you the opportunity to specialise in a scientific discipline after your undergraduate degree. We offer Taught Masters and Masters by Research degrees.

  • Taught Masters (MSc) involve both formal training and hands-on experience. Our School has between 20 and 30 Taught Masters students on a yearly basis. Each of them follows a programme of small-group classes in the Autumn and Spring, and undertakes an independent and original research project under the supervision of a staff member in the Summer. The project may be lab-based, field-based, theoretical, or a combination of these elements. We offer two MSc degrees:

         MSc in Applied Neuropsychology

         MSc in Neuropsychology

MSc in Research Methods in Psychology

  • Masters by Research involve only an independent and original research project under the supervision of a staff member across the whole year. The research project is written up as a thesis, which is assessed by two independent examiners. The candidate must also defend the thesis in an oral examination (viva voce).
