Women in Engineering Workshop

The Water and Environmental Engineering group participated in a workshop for primary and secondary school children, aiming to inspire them to follow a career in science and engineering.

During the workshops the students explored the challenges associated with access to safe and clean drinking water. Among other things, they built a simple water filter from a plastic bottle, sponges, sand and gravel to illustrate filtration properties.

These workshops are co-organized with Engineers Without Borders UK.

At the moment there is still a lack of female role models in engineering positions, but from talking to the girls at the workshop and seeing their potential I think this is something that is going to change in the future.
