Systems is a rapidly-developing discipline which is widely recognised by industry as key to addressing the complex challenges of the 21st Century. As the world becomes more interconnected, innovation increasingly requires an interdisciplinary approach integrating Systems theory and practice to produce robust and novel solutions. There is a demand for people who have the skills to research, design and manage complex systems. The Industrial Doctorate Centre in Systems mission is to provide a new wave of Engineers with skills and knowledge to address challenges of 21st Century.

The Systems Centre provides postgraduate training in Systems at Masters and Doctorate level. Programmes are modular and combine essential core units with elective units chosen by you from a wide range of options in technical and management. subjects. An important component of both programmes is an industry-sponsored collaborative research project which provides an opportunity to gain valuable experience of using Systems techniques on a live project.
The Masters in Systems is a two year part-time masters-level programme aimed primarily at graduates already in employment and seeking to develop their career. Students enrol with and graduate from the University of Bristol.
The EngD in Systems is provided at the Industrial Doctorate Centre in Systems, a part of the Systems Centre. This is a four year full-time doctoral programme aimed at graduating engineers and graduate engineers working in business and industry. Students (referred to as Research Engineers) may enrol with and graduate from either the University of Bristol or the University of Bath.
