The Centre for Deaf Studies 30th Anniversary - Day 2 Saturday 27th September 2008

Centre for Deaf Studies 30th Anniversary

Title: Celebrating Deaf Community

Date: Saturday 27 September, 9am - 5pm

Location: Watershed Media Centre, 1 Canons Rd, Bristol, BS1 5TX

Over the past thirty years, the Centre for Deaf Studies has enjoyed the support of the Deaf community. We have built valuable relationships and without these, many of the achievements we celebrated at our anniversary events would not have been possible.

On Saturday 27 September, the Centre showcased the diversity and talent that exists in the Deaf community. Events included:

  • a film competition for Deaf children
  • BSL poetry recitals by Paul Scott
  • a short film about the Centre for Deaf Studies
  • hands-on experience of the latest technologies at the centre
  • art exhibitions from local Deaf artist, Matt Jenkins
  • an opportunity for you to appear on your own Deafstation news
  • and a surprise event to close the day!

We worked with local Deaf organisations from around the city to bring you a day of fun and celebration. We hope you were able to join us and celebrate not only a landmark occasion for the centre, but for the Deaf community too.
