The University's central catering service, based in the Hawthorns, provides all the University's hospitality requirements, including conference and banqueting services, deliveries to departments and dining and bar services for staff and students. The Hawthorns also has four function rooms, plus nine hotel-standard bedrooms for short-term lettings.

The Bristol Colloid Centre (BCC) is a University-based, interdisciplinary, industrial research and technology centre. The BCC provides highly-qualified scientists, specialist equipment and information, which facilitate solutions for industrial problems particularly in the areas of colloid, polymer and surface science.
