The Annual Colston Research Society Symposium 2015 will be devoted to new developments in Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) research and treatment.
PTSD is a severe and debilitating stress-related psychiatric disorder affecting an increasing number of people in our society. However, our understanding of its neurobiology and the best ways to treat and prevent PTSD is still limited.
This symposium will therefore address the many unknowns of PTSD by bringing together national and international specialists from a variety of fields.
We have established an exciting two-day programme during which expert scientists will present and discuss the latest advances in research and therapy.
Topics included in the programme range from epigenetics and (early life) stress to fear memory and new pharmacological and psychological therapies. Poster sessions will further aid to the lively discussion of new data. One of the goals of this meeting is to inspire the development of novel ideas and research collaborations.
A free public lecture by Professor Barbara Rothbaum (Emory University, Atlanta, USA) will further increase awareness and understanding of PTSD and various innovative treatments in society. We warmly invite members of the general public, who are interested in mental health and in particular in PTSD, to attend this lecture.
