Dr Pauline Heslop

Dr Pauline Heslop: CI Team Manager

Pauline is a Senior Research Fellow at Norah Fry Research Centre at the University of Bristol. She has led a number of research projects relating to services, supports and issues for disabled people. Most recently she project managed a UK-wide study about the experiences of people with learning disabilities who self-injure. Pauline is a registered nurse with extensive nursing experience.

Professor Peter Fleming

Professor Peter Fleming: Chair of the Overview Panels

Peter is the Professor of Infant Health & Developmental Physiology at the Department of Community-based Medicine at the University of Bristol. He currently leads the statutory multi-agency investigations into all childhood deaths in Avon, Wiltshire and Swindon. He has also led the Confidential Enquiry into Stillbirths and Deaths in Infancy in Southwest Region from 1992- 2002 and the Avon Infant Mortality Study from 1984-2007.

Dr Matt Hoghton

Dr Matt Hoghton: Lead Investigator

Matt is a practicing GP in the NHS. He is Clinical Governance Lead of NHS North Somerset and the RCGP Clinical Learning Disabilities Champion 2010-12. He has been involved in care of people with learning disabilities since 1990 developing new clinical pathways, research and introducing annual health checks.

Lesley Russ

Lesley Russ: Lead Nurse

Lesley has extensive experience as a learning disability nurse. She is currently a learning disability adviser within the Bristol Public. She takes the lead for NHS Bristol to ensure that learning disabilities is included within all public health initiatives and is central to the strategic agenda.

Dr Peter Blair

Dr Peter Blair: CI Statistician

Peter is a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Community-based Medicine at the University of Bristol. He has extensive experience as a medical statistician and has worked on the Confidential Inquiry into Stillbirths and Deaths in Infancy, and the Confidential Enquiry into Sudden and Unexpected Deaths in Infancy.

Anna Marriott

Anna Marriott: CI Project worker

Anna is a Research Associate at Norah Fry Research Centre at the University of Bristol. She has worked on a range of research projects relating to various issues for disabled people and was part of the research team which carried out work for the National Institute for Health Research to establish the research priorities in the field of learning disability for the next ten years.
