News in 2011

  • Confidential Inquiry Update 11 August 2011 The Confidential Inquiry into the deaths of people with learning disabilities began data collection 1st June 2010. In the first year we were notified of the deaths of 119 people with learning disabilities that met the criteria for investigation. It has now been confirmed that the Confidential Inquiry will continue in the (former) Avon and Gloucestershire areas. This means that: • We wish to continue to be notified of the deaths of all people with learning disabilities (irrespective of age at death or cause of death) until the end of May 2012 • We will conduct a review of each of these deaths • We will be reviewing the deaths of a comparator group of people without learning disabilities, in order to place the deaths of people with learning disabilities in the wider context.
