Purpose:

We hope that every student on the Destination Summer School programmes has a safe and enjoyable time in Bristol while they are learning and experiencing the University and student life. This requires shared trust and confidence between staff and students in an environment where everyone respects the rights of other people. The University also has an extra duty of care for the safety and welfare of our under-18 students.

Scope:

This Enhanced Behaviour Policy applies to all Summer School students, including those who are 18 at the time of their programme. For the purpose of the Destination Summer Schools, all students will be treated as if they are under 18.

The Behaviour Policy also applies to:

  1. Activities which take place on the University of Bristol campus, including in areas such as libraries, computer labs, teaching spaces and student accommodation.
  2. All social programme events offered as part of the Summer Schools.
  3. Activities which take place during students’ free time and on arrival and departure dates. The University of Bristol reserves the right to investigate instances of student misconduct which take place out of class or activity time, or following the end of the course.
  4. Any activity not covered by the above points which could negatively affect the safety or interests of the University of Bristol, its students and staff.

Expected behaviour:

The University wants all students to benefit from the programme. In order to do this, you will be expected to show responsible behaviour while attending your Summer School, as well as respect for the rights of other students and Summer School staff.

General Rules:

For health and safety reasons, and for all students to have the opportunity to benefit and enjoy the Summer School, the following rules will be in operation:

  2. The purchase or use of any drugs/illegal substances is strictly forbidden.

  5. Students are expected to wear their lanyards at all times, unless given permission to remove them by staff.
  6. Students should make Global Summer School staff/mentors aware of where they are during unstructured/free time.
