Undergraduate study within the Department

Welcome

Photo of Prof Anthony Hollander, Head of DepartmentWelcome to Cellular & Molecular Medicine's web pages for Undergraduate Admissions. Whether you are interested in studying in our Department or just curious about what we teach we hope that these pages will give you some useful information.

If you choose to come to our Department you will gain a broad training in biomedical science and will study the cellular and molecular basis of human diseases caused by micro-organisms, including meningitis and AIDS, as well as cancer and autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, diabetes and arthritis. The emphasis of the programmes offered reflects our research strengths in the areas of cancer biology, and infection & immunology.

Teaching in the Department is undertaken by active researchers as well as medical doctors, and this provides an ideal environment in which to study. The quality of our teaching was recognised when we received top marks in the last Teaching Quality Assessment.

Follow the links on the left for further details on the department, our admissions policy, the research undertaken here and the degree programmes we offer. Under the 'degree programmes' link you will find information about the courses on offer, their structure and the type of learning experience involved, including lectures, group tutorials and laboratory-based practical work.

We are justifiably proud of our teaching environment where you will be taught by world-class researchers and clinicians, will undertake your lab-based classes in newly refurbished teaching laboratories and pursue your final year project as part of a research group in a state of the art research laboratory. Whilst here you will also benefit from having a personal tutor, and access to excellent library and computer facilities.
