For the journey to Bristol and all that follows

You can enable all students, regardless of background, to come to university and thrive.

Going to university is such a significant milestone. It’s an opportunity to meet new people, discover new things and imagine all the possibilities ahead of you.

But for students these days, it’s becoming harder and harder to accept a place at university and settle into student life. The extraordinary cost of living in the UK means an alarming number of students are struggling to make ends meet.

Twice as many students from last year have accessed urgent hardship support, and Bristol is now the most expensive city to live in outside of London (Natwest Student Living Index 2023). 1 in 5 students are considering dropping out because they can’t afford to continue and 72% of students say their mental health as suffered because of the cost of living crisis (Russell Group SU (2023)

Contributions from you, our alumni and friends community, help to support 1 in 5 students who seek financial assistance. Will you help transform the lives of even more talented students who need your help?

By supporting students like Misbah above, you lay the foundations for a stable and supportive learning environment. You provide security to students to develop their subject specialisms, build their confidence and establish their careers. You give them the space and freedom to be bold and creative, and the confidence to discover their full potential. Your support demonstrates to Bristol students that you believe in them and you are invested in their futures.

Bristol students are curious and engaged people with so much potential, but they need you now more than ever. Can you provide financial stability to students who need it most?

‘When I was 18, I became homeless and lived in a shelter. Thanks to the Futures Scholarship, I was eventually able to come to university. It helped me achieve financial stability. I came here with nothing, and I was given a leg up by the Futures Scholarship and those who have supported it.’
