Background
I graduated from Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2025 with a MSc in Physical geography focussing on Environmental Archaeology, Palaeodiet and Human-Environment interactions. I spent three years of the MSc working with Professor Xiaoyan Yang on the project related to Mabu Co site. The project utilized stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes to investigate the diet of ancestors from Neolithic sites on the Tibetan Plateau. The objective was to find what food resources support ancestors to survive on ultra-high altitude region (>4000masl) during Neolithic period, in order to provide the human adaptation to harsh environment from the perspective of food.
I was a visiting student to the Organic Geochemistry Unit (OGU) in September 2024 working with Dr Melanie Roffet-Salque and Dr Iain Kendall. I processed bone collagen samples from archaeological sites using compound-specific carbon and nitrogen isotopes of amino acids to further investigation in aquatic resources consumption.
In September 2025, I started my PhD in the OGU. My project aims to understand the different patterns of aquatic resources consumption and cooking strategies across Eurasia using compound-specific stable isotopic analysis of lipids (from pottery) and amino acids (from collagen), under the supervision of Dr Melanie Roffet-Salque, Prof Richard Evershed (Chemistry), and in collaboration with researchers and archaeologists from East Asia.
