I study how rapidly growing cities manage water scarcity through intermittent water supply, and how this practice shapes equity, reliability, and overall water security. Drawing on more than five years of professional experience in water utility practice, my research examines the system-wide consequences of intermittency - from water quality risks and unequal distribution to household coping behaviours and reliance on costlier alternative sources. By integrating utility operations with household experience, I aim to make visible the intersection of multiple ontologies of intermittency and generate insights that baseline service realities, inform adaptive and resilient investment needs, and strengthen the network modelling assumptions required for more responsive and effective system management.
