Biography
Research interests
Simon is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Consumption in the School of Management, University of Bristol. His research is in the areas of brand ‘purpose-based’ marketing strategies and brand activism, marketing practitioner/academia boundaries and interactions and design innovation. Simon obtained his PhD from the Southampton University. He then worked in the areas of consumer science, consumer research, marketing and design innovation at Unilever and IDEO before returning to higher education. He has acted as a consultant and adviser to a variety of organisations including Mondelez, SAB Miller, Unilever and many other for- and non-profit organisations. He has conducted research in many countries including Germany, France, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Spain and UK.

Teaching
He teaches two undergraduate units: Issues in Consumer Marketing and Innovation and Brands and Cultural Strategy. Both units seek to integrate academic theory and marketing practice.
He teaches two units currently Issues in Consumer Marketing and Innovation (second year undergraduate) and Brands and Cultural Strategy (third year undergraduate) as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.
