Research interests
I’m a dentist, currently working towards a PhD with the Oral Nanoscience group. I’m investigating how nanoparticles which release a common antiseptic - chlorhexidine - could be used in the prevention and treatment of infections around dental implants.
This research comprises 3 parts: chemical formulation of the nanoparticles, testing of the efficacy of these formulations against relevant microorganisms, and establishing biocompatability of the formulations with human osteoblasts (bone cells).
My PhD is funded by the Medical Research Council as a Clinical Research Training Fellowship.
