Research interests
Dr Prianka Padmanathan is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer (ACL) in General Adult Psychiatry and an ST6 Psychiatry Registrar with specialist training in Addiction Psychiatry. Her PhD, titled “Suicide prevention in clinical populations with substance use problems,” involved analysis of national electronic health record data alongside the development of a suicide prevention intervention. She has published widely on suicide prevention, including in high-impact journals such as The Lancet, The Lancet Psychiatry, and The BMJ. Her research has also been cited in UK and international policy documents and featured in national media. Her current research interests include personalising mental health treatments for people with co-occurring substance use problems, as well as the use of drugs in vapes and the associated health and mental health effects.
