Research interests
My primary research interests lie in the relationship between research evidence and policy decision-making. The discourse surrounding 'evidence-based policy' often makes this seems very simple (a question of finding 'what works') but this obscures a range of important questions. What forms of evidence, if any, ought to be prioritised? What kinds of information can count as evidence? How can different forms of evidence be combined?
My teaching is primarily focused on research methods and particularly on quantitative data analysis. I am particularly interested in developing engaging approaches to teaching quantitative methods through analysis of real data.
