Biography
Since completing my own PhD (on Shakespearean historiography) in 2014 and teaching across UG and PGT programmes in the University's Department of English, I have worked extensively in support of postgraduate research activity.
I joined the staff of the Bristol Doctoral College in 2017, where I held a number of roles, including PGR Development Advisor (contributing to the central personal and professional development programme for PGRs) and PhD Scholarships Coordinator, a role which gave me a thorough grounding in the administrative and financial challenges of postgraduate research at the University of Bristol. From 2021 to 2024 I was Doctoral Research Partnerships Officer, working with industry and HEI partners to develop new co-funding, co-supervised or split-site opportunities for PGRs at Bristol.
My current role with the Commercial Research (Pre-Contract) team builds on this. While my work has a specific PGR focus, I work alongside my team to help academics navigate negotiations with commercial funders and support schools in making informed decisions about collaborative research activity.
Publications
'The Changing Faces of Virtue: Plutarch, Machiavelli and Shakespeare's Coriolanus', Early Modern Literary Studies (2016)
'The Critical Backstory' in Richard II: A Critical Reader - Arden Early Modern Drama Guides, ed. by Michael Davies and Andrew Duxfield (London: Bloomsbury, 2020)
