Biography
Nick is Professor of Aircraft Dynamics at the University of Bristol, having held the positions of Head of Aerospace Engineering, Dean of Engineering in and then Pro Vice-Chancellor. Throughout his career he has cultivated links and been a strong advocate for collaboration between academia and industry.
He was awarded his first degree in Acoustics and Vibration from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research in Southampton whilst working with their Automotive Design Advisory Unit (ADAU) and then went to Imperial College London and gained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering supported by Rolls-Royce. He stayed at Imperial College as a lecturer before joining Airbus on a Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship, then taking up a lectureship at Bristol University. He was the founding director of the AgustaWestland University Technology Centre in Rotorcraft Vibration which maps onto his continued research interests.
He is currently a Board member for the UK Knowledge Transfer Network and St George's Music Trust and Chair of the Office For Students' Teaching Excellence Framework subject panel in Engineering and Technology.
