Research interests
I'm a British-American poet and translator with an interest in marginalisation in literature and in how the canon might be renegotiated to promote inclusivity and ecology. My work has been published on both sides of the Atlantic, won an IPPY award, was shortlisted for the Bridport Prize, and earned an Arts Council grant and a Causley Trust residency.
My PhD project includes a verse novel, drawing from the Exeter Book's lyric poems and strands of the Theodric legends, along with research into how animal imagery in medieval literature can inflect contemporary poetic practices grappling with power imbalances. I also have wider interests in the intersection of poetry and: experimental, hybrid, and interdisciplinary writing; relationships and intimacy; trauma, mental health, and affect; gender and sexuality; ecocriticism; and nonviolent translation theories.
