Following nine years personal post-retirement experience as a heritage volunteer, I am currently researching for an MPhil provisionally entitled "Not for the faint-hearted: some of the complexities, complications and consequences in heritage volunteering". Given the increasingly important role played by volunteers in heritage in the UK (and around the world), I am particularly interested in the experiences, views and opinions both of heritage volunteers themselves, and of the professional staff who manage them.
