Research interests
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of English working on the ERC–UKRI project, 'Mapping the March: Medieval Wales and England, c. 1282–1550' (MOWLIT). See further details at: https://blog.mowlit.ac.uk/
As part of the project, I am contributing to a database of manuscripts and literary texts to be integrated with newly revised digital maps of the Marcher lordships.
Alongside data capture, I am working with Dr Luciana Cordo Russo on a conference and edited volume entitled 'The French of the Celtic Worlds', an exploration of the contexts and dynamics of Francophone culture in premodern Celtic-speaking territories. See further details at: https://blog.mowlit.ac.uk/french-of-the-celtic-worlds/
I am also working on an independent project entitled ‘Reading Avalon’, which analyses medieval representations of the geographies, ontologies, objects, and temporalities of Avalon, the place to which King Arthur is taken to be cured of his mortal wounds.
My wider research interests include: the literary cultures of premodern Britain, France, and Occitania; medieval multilingualism; manuscript studies; digital and environmental humanities; medieval literature and critical theory.
Bio: Having studied French and German at Jesus College, Cambridge (2009-13), I completed an MA in French Literature and Culture (2013-14) and a PhD in French (2015-19) at King’s College London, where I was supervised by Professor Simon Gaunt and Professor Julia Crick. I then held a Junior Research Fellowship at St John’s College, Cambridge (2019–2023), before joining the MOWLIT project at the University of Bristol.
