Biography
Mark is Professor of Accounting at the University of Bristol Business School. He is joint editor of Accounting and Business Research, a member of the ICAEW Research Advisory Board and also sits on EFRAG's Academic Panel. He was President of the European Accounting Association between 2023 and 2025.
Mark's research investigates the usefulness of financial reporting information in capital markets and he teaches financial reporting and financial statement analysis. He obtained his BSc and PhD in Accounting from Cardiff University.
He was previously a member of the Research Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and of the Academic Panel of the UK Financial Reporting Council.

Research interests
Mark's research interests are in financial reporting, including the links between accounting information and capital markets and audit markets. He is joint editor of Accounting and Business Research and President of the European Accounting Association. He teaches Advanced Financial Reporting at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
