Her doctoral project Laӡamon’s Lexis has two aims. The first is to compile the glossary to the legendary text of Laӡamon’s Brut which will feed into the second aim of this project: to provide a new evaluation of the originality and distinctiveness of Laӡamon’s lexical choices.

Given the relative scarcity of Early Middle English literature, Laӡamon’s Brut has long been recognised as a crucial source of evidence about the state of the English language in the early thirteenth century, a transitional period, reintroducing English as a literary language since the predominant Latin and French scribal tradition after the Norman Conquest in 1066. The texts evidence significant linguistic changes, reflecting on the foreign influence and the character of the text as a translation from Anglo-Norman and Latin.

Though the work is focused on lexicography and historical linguistics, it is of great interdisciplinary relevance due to the multicultural and multilingual context in which it stands.
