Biography
Academic bio
With an undergraduate degree in History (Sheffield), I came to the University of Bristol in 2009 to study MSc Gender and International Relations, receiving Distinction and course prize for best overall performance. Drawing on my Master's dissertation, I authored a publication for the International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA), launched at a panel event (at which I presented) at the United Nations, New York in 2011. I was awarded a University of Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarship to undertake a PhD and PGDip in Social Sciences Research Methods (both fully funded) in the School of Politics and International Studies (SPAIS). I taught on three undergraduate units in SPAIS, presented five papers at international academic conferences, peer-reviewed journal article submissions (solicited by journal editors), and co-authored the book, Masculinities, Gender and International Relations (University of Bristol Press, 2022).
Professional services bio
I previously worked in Marketing/Communications and Student Recruitment at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and University of Westminster, and supported Widening Participation projects at UoB.
Since joining the Research Development International team in 2018 I have worked with researchers from all faculties applying to EU funding schemes, designed, organised and delivered a suite of training and writing retreats, developed the team's SharePoint presence, and supported international collaboration building.
From 2021-2024 I also worked in RDUK, supporting early career researchers in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences & Law with applying to UK research funding schemes, co-delivering an extensive portfolio of training, and launching the ALSS ECR network. In 2021 I did a short secondment at the Cabot Institute for the Environment as Development Associate, organising and running online events.
