Biography
Jennifer undertook her post-CCST training in Orthodontics at Bristol Dental Hospital and the Royal United Hospital, Bath. She was appointed Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Orthodontics at the University of Bristol and Royal United Hospital, Bath in 2023. She enjoys teaching orthodontics to the whole dental team, from dental nurses, orthodontic therapists to undergraduates and postgraduates.
Research interests
Jennifer studied for a PhD in Molecular Oral Microbiology before completing Orthodontic training in Bristol and Bath.
She is now the academic lead for the postgraduate orthodontic training programme at the University of Bristol and she supports the research training component for postgraduate orthodontic trainees in the South West. She currently co-supervises orthodontic MScR and DDS projects, including projects related to cleft lip and palate.
She has recently completed a project funded by the British Orthodontic Society Foundation investigating outcomes following introduction of a digital orthognathic workflow. Jennifer has a particular interest in educational research and has worked locally with colleagues on a project funded by the Bristol Institute for Learning and Teaching investigating the postgraduate learning environment in dentistry.

Teaching
As well as training ST1-3 orthodontic trainees in the clinic, Jennifer has also been a trainer for orthodontic therapy students and supervises undergraduate orthodontic clinical activity at Bristol Dental School. She contributes to assessment design, standard setting and moderation in the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. She is a member of the Orthodontic Teachers and Trainers Group of the British Orthodontic Society.
Jennifer also enjoys her role as Unit lead for the Personal and Professional Development component of the International Foundation Programme which is designed for international students aspiring to study dentistry in the UK.
Jennifer is a Member of the Academy Of Medical Educators.
