Research interests
My general research interest lies within the applications of cognitive psychology, and psychology more broadly, to education. This ranges from:
- How to support students in higher education across various individual differences and needs
- Learning strategies and engagement interventions
- Pedagogical practices to create a positive learning environment.
At present, my research seeks to investigate engagement with retrieval practice, that is, the well-established finding that testing yourself on information improves long-term memory more so than less effective study strategies (i.e., note-taking, rereading). In addition, I am particularly interested in whether generative artificial intelligence could be a viable solution to the retrieval practice engagement crisis observed across higher education institutions, acting as a support tool for learning and testing.
